Weather does not freeze Little League Opening Day events

Forty degree weather may have brought out some blanketed “ghosts” around Slaton, but it did not deter Little League enthusiasts from celebrating their first games of the season.

The 267 Little League players and about 100 volunteers, from coaches to board members, as well as their families joined together in Opening Day festivities Saturday at Englund Field.

A total of 24 teams ranging from T-ball to age 13/14 baseball and softball were introduced to family and friends in the chilly 40 degree weather.
