Healthcare providers urge residents to get flu vaccine

Flu season is quickly approaching and the best way to fight the flu is available now in Slaton.

Slaton Pharmacy has the latest vaccine as does CVS Pharmacy, with the UMC Clinic in Slaton expected to have their vaccines in by the end of the month.

“I like to wait until the first of October to give them,” said Mackenzie Price, physician assistant at the Slaton UMC Clinic. “They are good for three to three and a half months.”

Price said she has not seen any flu cases so far this year, but  Lubbock has had cases of two different strains.

Flu shots are covered by insurance.

“Everybody should have a flu shot,” said Hardeep Singh, pharmacist at Slaton Pharmacy.
