Slaton, Area celebrate July 4

Almost 2 inches in rains over Wednesday and Thursday did not deter Slaton from having its annual  Fourth of the Square Friday (July 4).

The event started with a patriotic parade before the Festival on the Square.

Miss Firecracker was Charlee Chancellor. Second place was Landree Gonzales and third place was Julianne Mark. 

Each winner received a custom made Miss Firecracker Sash and a cash prize from Peoples Bank.

Danelle Talkmitt was honored for singing at the annual July 4 festivities for 30 years, and received a certificate.
