SEDCO approves signs for building, grant incentive

The Slaton Economic Development Corporation approved window clings for a building at 165 W. Lubbock St. and discussed the building Thursday afternoon (Sept. 18) during its regular meeting.

Executive Lezlee Harlan showed the board some ideas she had for the windows, adding they would include what they wanted to actually market the building for.

She added she could also choose a cling that mentioned SEDCO owned the building and people could call to discuss options for use. Harlan said she wanted the building to also not look like it was empty.

Harlan said the architectural study of the roof gave probable costs on repairing it, adding that in the review they stated as long as there was nothing put on the roof it would not need repairing.

She said because of joists that have twists it can never be a restaurant or other businesses needing vents with the roof as it is.

Harlan said they could do things to improve the building; however, a rule states they must recoup whatever they invest into a building when it is rented or sold.
