Slaton, Area prepares to host Halloween events

Several groups in Slaton are celebrating Halloween in festive fashion this year.

Library of Legacies will conduct a Trunk or Treat from 2-3 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 18) at its location, 1420 Woodrow Road. The event is free, and children can wear their costumes to the event.

Slaton Chamber of Commerce will again host its Trunk-or-Treat Oct. 31 on from 4:30-5:30 p.m. on the Square. It will also feature its Trunk Contest, and is free.

Cathelene Thomas Elementary School’s Fall Festival – Beetlejuice themed – will be conducted Oct. 28 at the school.

They are currently collecting bags of individually wrapped candy to use as prizes for the activities at the event.

For every bag of candy a student brings they will receive 4 tickets for those activities. Those turning in candy can turn it in to the front office.

The Slaton Care Center is looking for people to donate candy for their Slaton Care Center’s trunk or treat event.

They can be dropped off at the Center, 630 S. 19th St. and ask for the Activities Director. Deadline is Oct. 28, and for more information call 806-828-6288. Their event date and time has not been listed yet.

Information is as of press time Tuesday (Oct. 14). Those who would like to submit items for the next two editions (Oct. 23 and 30) for Halloween can email Editor Melissa McCaghren at [email protected]. Items must be in no later than 5 p.m. Monday the week one wishes the item to run in the paper.
