Competition is Tesla Chambers’ cup of tea

Slaton senior Tesla Chambers just won the District 2-3A JV tennis championship and is looking to reach another milestone this weekend.

Chambers will compete Saturday (April 28) in the Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) at San Marcos High School, the first art student to advance to the state competition in a decade.

Tesla Chambers is heading to the state VASE competition this weekend after scoring 56 out of 60 at the regional contest.

“Tesla is one of those students that, if she sets her mind to it, will have success,” said SHS art teacher Deidra Brooks. “I’ve had her since eighth grade and I wish she could stay (in high school). But she is going to do lots of great things.”
