Slaton student arrested after social media threat

A Slaton High School student was arrested Thursday morning (April 26) after threatening the high school on social media.

At around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, the 16-year-old posted a bomb threat. Within minutes, several fellow students reported the threat to school officials and the Slaton Police Department.

The student was placed into custody by Slaton police prior to school Thursday for false alarm, a state jail felony. He was transported to the Lubbock County Juvenile Justice Center.

A bomb-sniffing canine was brought in to search the school. No explosive devices were found and the school was never on lockdown.
