The Caprock Cultural Association in Post is seeking artists to participate in the sixth annual “Sit a Spell in Post” outdoor art exhibit. Interested artists are asked to submit a rough draft of their proposed design along with a brief statement of experience and qualifications for the project by email to ccarts@poka.com by June 18 or by mail to Caprock Cultural Association, P.O. Box 37, Post, TX 79356 postmarked no later than June 16.

“Artists will not be limited to a theme,” said Rosa Latimer, Executive Director of the organization. “We want artists to allow their creative spirits to soar with any medium that will withstand the outdoor elements.” Participating artists will be provided an unfinished Adirondack-style wooden chair on which to create. Designs that incorporate textiles, decoupage or similar techniques will not be eligible.

Artists chosen for the project will be notified by June 22 and given a time to pick up their chairs. Completed chairs are due back in Post by July 30. Artists will be honored with a reception on August 2 after which the chairs will be installed on Main Street.

There is no entry fee and each participating artist will receive a $400 cash award. The pieces will be on display on Main Street in Post August through October, 2018. All entries remain the property of Caprock Cultural Association.
