It’s working:10 pounds of drugs left in drop box
Local residents are taking advantage of the new drug drop box at Slaton Police Department.
The drop box, which provides a method for disposal of legal and illegal drugs, was filled with more than 10 pounds of narcotics and other drugs in its first month, according to Slaton Police Chief Trevor Barnes.
Police weighed 10 pounds, eight ounces worth of various pills, although no Schedule I or illegal drugs were dropped. However, 13.5 ounces of Schedule II narcotics, which are controlled substances such as morphine, were left in the box.
“It’s working,” said Barnes. “We’re getting drugs off the street.”
