Lifelong resident takes charge of Harvey House

After a year of assisting the management of the Harvey house, Lynn Melton has been named the new operations manager.

Melton, who retired after 29 years as a teacher from Slaton ISD, takes over from Jessica Kelly, who left to pursue her own career in education.

Melton’s job entails all aspects of the operation of the Harvey House — she gives tours, books events, handles all of the media and promotion and acts almost as a museum director when new exhibits are donated. She also publicizes and coordinates fundraising events and when there are guests in the rooms, she sometimes stays the night to assist guests.
