SISD system aims to reduce school violence
Slaton ISD has adopted the Multi-Tiered System of Support method of instruction, which provides a district-wide method for data collection to help streamline instruction and target specific needs of students.
SISD Psychologist Dr. Sam Thompson, who is in his first year with the district, said the system based on a national research philosophy of data collection on behavior, academic standing and attendance.
“It’s based on the idea that all students learn differently,” he said. “It’s the best set-up for school districts.”
The philosophy is a multi-tiered system of support framework that fosters a problem-solving culture integrating assessment, data-based decision-making, and intervention in a continuous cycle designed to maximize the educational opportunities of all students.
