Slaton man arrested for violent home invasion

After a nearly two-week investigation, a suspect in a brutal home invasion robbery in Slaton has been arrested.

Eddie Jeremy Gonzales, 24, of Slaton was arrested by Lubbock County Sheriff’s deputies for the Oct. 16 offense of aggravated robbery. Aggravated robbery is a first-degree felony, punishable by up to five years to life in prison.

Gonzales is currently in Lubbock County Detention Center on a $75,000 bond. He was charged with aggravated robbery, engaging in organized criminal activity and interference with an emergency telephone call.

According to Slaton PD Sgt. Steve Dekraker,  Slaton police responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 700 block of 7th Street  just after midnight on Oct. 17, where three men beat, threatened with guns and stole several thousand dollars worth of cash and jewelry as well as a rifle from two men.
