Slaton to test automated water meters

The Slaton City Commission approved two action items during a brief meeting Monday night.

Commissioners unanimously approved  reappointing Joe Sparkman to another two-year term as representative to the Lubbock Emergency Communication District board of managers. Sparkman has been on the board since its inception in 1986 and currently serves as chairman of the board.

In the only other action item on the agenda, the city commission unanimously approved the fire suppression and rescue services agreement with Lubbock County for coverage in unincorporated areas of Lubbock County.
