Successful Slaton season ends in area round
SWEETWATER — The Slaton Tigers successful 2018 season ended last weekend in Sweetwater, but big strides were made this season under first-year head coach Jeff Caffey.
Slaton ran into #3 Brock in the Mustang Bowl and fell, 64-6. The Tigers held Brock to seven points in the first quarter and held them on downs three times inside their own 20 before Brock’s physicality took over.
Slaton was predicted to finish fourth in district at the start of the season by Dave Campbell’s Texas Football Magazine. The Tigers finished third in District 2-3A and earned a bi-district trophy in a nail-biter over Brownfield.
