Slatonites take scenic route in tour of U.S.

Slatonites Gregg and Lynn Nowlin recently travelled 4,130 miles in their Airstream trailer visiting 10 US States and made 2 pedestrian trips into Mexico at two different border crossings.  (Agua de Prieta, Douglas, Ariz. and Juarez-El Paso, Texas)

The couple took turns checking off destinations on their “Bucket Lists”. Past trips have included 10 days in Cuba, almost a month in Costa Rica, and scuba diving in the South Pacific.  This trip was planned around Lynn’s lifelong desire to visit the Crazy Horse Monument in South Dakota.

Lynn said that since she was an elementary student she has wanted to see the Crazy Horse monument being carved out of a mountain to honor the Lakota Chief and his place in US History during the Indian Wars and the Battle at Little Big Horn that ended with General Custer’s demise.
