City receives clean audit

The City of Slaton received a clean audit and agreed to purchase a new brush truck for the fire department Monday.

A representative from the accounting firm of Bollinger, Segars, Gilbert & Moss, LLP said the city has a clean audit, but advised the city to try to work more on eliminating the deficit in the general fund.

City Manager Mike Lamberson noted that garbage rates had increased and there were always unexpected capital expenditures.

“We make enough in water and sewer to cover it and we are working to bring it down,” he said. “It’s just not happening as fast as I would like.”
