New pastor takes pulpit at First Baptist Church

The new pastor at Slaton First Baptist Church may have come from south of the Metroplex, but is already getting acclimated to his new home.

Ben Hollan began his first assignment as pastor of his own congregation on Jan 6.

“I heard it was hard to follow a long-term pastor like Cleve (Kerby), but the church has been very welcoming,” he said. “It’s been a great transition and a great experience.”

Kerby was the minister at FBC for 23 years.

Hollan and his family moved to Slaton from Hillsboro, south of the Metroplex, but Hollan said the town is similar to Slaton.
