McCaghren named General Manager at The Slatonite

Melissa McCaghren has been named the new General Manager of the Slatonite, beginning her duties at the newspaper Monday.

She is a 2001 graduate of West Texas A&M University, receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication-Print Media.

McCaghren is an award-winning photographer, having received 10 individual and 14 overall Texas Press Association awards for photography during her time at the Brenham Banner-Press. Among the honors include first places in sports and news photography.

“I am excited to welcome Melissa back to West Texas. Her career at community newspapers began at two other papers within our group and she did an outstanding job at the Brenham Banner-Press,” said Publisher Bill Crist.
