Helping kids with their reading skills is one of many goals Kathy Hardin has for the children of Slaton this summer.
To encourage kids to continue reading during the summer, Hardin, a volunteer at the Slaton City Library, read to students from kindergarten through fourth grade. on June 3 at the McDonald’s located at 655 US-84 Highway. This reading time, which is the first of many to come, is an opportunity she said is aimed at helping students to not forgot their reading skills.
Hardin said for those interested in future readings, the summer reading program will take place at 4 p.m. every Monday during June at McDonald’s.
