City sets election date for unexpired terms

The City Council set a date for a special election to fill the remainder of unexpired terms of Mayor and Commissioner Ward IV Monday evening (June 10) at City Hall.

Mayor D.W. “Dubbin” Englund died May 28, while Commissioner Ward IV, James A. “Buster” Tucker, died May 23.

A moment of silence was held in honor of both men, and prayer was lead by Cleve Kerby. Items reflecting Englund’s and Tucker’s lives, along with their name plates, were on a table of honor in front.

Mayor Pro-Tem and Commissioner Ward II Lynn Nowlin said the date was set for Nov. 5 for the election.
