City approves 3 people to boards

The Slaton City Council approved the appointments of three people on two boards Monday (July 1) during a special called meeting at City Hall.

Cleve Kerby was appointed to the Slaton Economic Development Corporation Board. He will fill out the remainder of a term until the Board turns into a Type B.

Mayor Pro-Tem and Commissioner Ward II Lynn Nowlin said that Barbara Hopper, president of the SEDCO board, had written a letter and talked with the board recommending Kerby to the position.

Council also approved the appointment of Leroy Behnke and Melissa Buxkemper to the Housing Authority Board of Commissioners.  Nowlin said recommendations were sent for both nominees for the two vacancies.
