Rod Klemke, owner of Klemke’s Sausage Haus as well as the Antique Store, was heartbroken when his building was destroyed June 15.
“(The fire) devastating, but each day I’m looking forward toward the future, trying to figure out where to go and what to do,” he said at his barbecue joint located on 9th St.
At the same time, Klemke said he is lucky and is thankful for the love and support the community has given him.
“You never know how much a community supports you until you have a disaster – and that’s the worst way to find out how much the community supports you,” he admitted. “But it’s amazing how many people have sent me cards, did things, wanting to know if they can help.
“It’s just a tough situation, and we’ll try to do our best to pay back the community somehow.”
