City to seek bids for trash service

Setting standards for the City’s trash service and going out for bids for service highlighted a rather light meeting of the Slaton City Council Monday (July 8) at City Hall.
Mike Lamberson, City Administrator, said it was necessary to get a new bid. “Our contract’s been up with Republic (Services) for probably several months,” he said. “So it’s time we get things kind of lined up out and under a new contract or go out for a bid. We’ve had some other companies interested.”
He presented a list of items to consider in the new contract, including prices for dumpsters of various sizes, prices for roll-aways similar to ones used in the recycling center, prices per ton on disposal and fees regarding extra full dumpsters.
