The impact of Texas House Bill 3 on teacher salaries was discussed during a special-called Slaton Independent School District Board of Trustees meeting on Monday (July 8).
With the bill being passed during the Texas 86th Legislative Session, the Board reviewed changes that could occur regarding teacher salaries and discussed multiple plans in raising the salaries of SISD employees.
Even though the bill was passed, the district is still not clear on the bill’s mandates.
SISD Chief Financial Officer Art Martin said most of the bill’s mandates are unknown to the district, which is waiting for the mandates to be released.
