Slaton’s acquisition of the Town Square Antique Mall and Museum building was discussed during a Slaton Economic Development Corporation meeting on Thursday (July 18).

The Slaton Industrial Foundation no longer has the building, as they deeded it over to the city, which will complete necessary repairs.

Mike Lamberson, Slaton city administrator, said the Antique Mall’s rent to the city will consist of maintaining the museum.

“We’ll upgrade the building. We’ll get grants, new lighting. We can get some money into the museum,” he said.

“The mall, we’ll just let it stay there, it will pay itself upfront.”
