The parking lots at Slaton High School have been full of the sound of the marching band. Members of the Mighty Tiger Band have been working on their lines, twirls and steps for the upcoming season.

All part of its Band Camp.

Band Director Mario Aguirre said the camp was beneficial for all students, starting with basics.

“This week in band camp, we have been drilling marching fundamentals. It is important to start with basics and fundamentals before we add any other aspects to our show,” he said.

“Half of our band consists of Freshman students and our upperclassmen have been doing a great job of making new students feel welcome. Leadership students have also done an awesome job at teaching and drilling fundamentals with the rest of our kids.”
