A kaleidoscope of colors graced the grounds of the Slaton High School parking lot Thursday  evening (Aug. 1).

Seniors were painting selected parking lot spaces with colors, designs and special memories as part of a painting party.

A total of 23 students paid for the privilege to decorate their spots. Only seniors could opt-in.

They could adorn it with anything they wanted, such as jersey numbers, instruments, hobbies, famous quotes, as long as it was approved by administration and followed the basic dress code standards.

Shaye Murphy, school principal, said it was the first time they’ve ever allowed students to decorate their parking spots.
