Slaton ISD gets ready for busy school year

Slaton ISD has been busy this week preparing for the school year.

Football started its two-a-day workouts Monday (Aug. 5), learning and finessing their skills for the upcoming season.

Forty-four new teachers were welcomed with a new teacher breakfast Tuesday (Aug. 6) and had campus day with the principals. Registration for new students also was conducted.

Teachers will participate in programs, convocation and mandatory legal training this week.

Saturday (Aug. 10), the Slaton Booster Club invites family and friends to the 2019 Tiger Nation Rally and Scrimmage at Tiger Stadium.

A sausage wrap meal, which includes a wrap, chips and water, will be served beginning at 5 p.m. Cost for the meal is $5, and a light concessions stand will be open.

Fans can also purchase new 2019 Tiger Nation Gear from the spirit trailer as well.

The 2019 Tiger football teams, Cross Country teams, Tiger Cheerleaders and Tiger Band will be introduced.

The scrimmage will begin at 6 p.m.
