SISD Board sets public hearing on tax rate

The Board of Education of the Slaton Independent School District had a busy meeting Tuesday (Aug. 13) during its monthly meeting at the Administration Building.

Prior to the meeting, the board conducted a budget workshop for an hour.

In the regular monthly meeting, the board approved the proposed 2019-20 maintenance and operations tax rate be set at $1.0684 and the proposed interest and sinking tax rate be set at $0.294 per $100 valuation for a total tax rate of $1.3624.

It also approved setting a public hearing for 7 p.m. Aug. 27 to be held in the board room of the Administration Building, located at 140 E. Panhandle St.
