The Slaton Economic Development Corporation selected a 2019-20 budget they would present to City Council for approval Thursday (Aug. 22) at their regular monthly meeting.

Barbara Hopper, executive director of SEDCO, presented two different budget proposals.

They budgets were based on tax revenue estimations.“The figures on the tax revenue we had $165,000 last year and it went up… 19.82 percent,” she said. “With my projections with what we should get for June which we’ll be getting that any time now and  then the July and August and September, we should actually end up with about $209,000 this year.”

That said, she based the budgets on $190,000. “I’d rather it be under as go over,” she added.
