Slaton Catholic Daughters Court celebrates 75th anniversary

The Catholic Daughters Court Our Lady of the Assumption #1364 celebrated its 75th anniversary with a Mass at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Saturday (Aug. 24).

The Court was founded in Slaton Aug. 15, 1944.

Slaton has 59 members in their court, with one remaining charter member. There are 101 deceased members and chaplains.

The  Catholic Daughters of the Americas is one of the oldest and largest organizations of Catholic Women in North, Central and South America.

It was founded in 1903 by the Knights of Columbus. Girls ages six-18 can be a member, and young college women can become members of campus courts at some universities.

Slaton’s Court is the oldest one in West Texas.
