Man killed in rollover accident

A Tuesday evening accident (Sept. 10) along the U.S. Hwy. 84, near All American Chevrolet, killed one man and sent another to the hospital.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported David Danks, 66, was killed in the crash, which occurred just before 5:20 p.m. The driver was taken to Covenant Medical Center by a private vehicle with possible injuries.

DPS reported the vehicle was traveling East bound on U.S. 84, when the driver lost control for an unknown reason. The truck veered off the roadway, and when the driver over corrected, rolled the vehicle over. They added Danks, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle in the roll.

EMS, Lubbock County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Slaton Police responded. Traffic was slowed down or diverted to Woodrow Road as officers worked the scene.

The crash is still under investigation.
