Slaton Area Endowment to award grants
The Slaton Area Endowment will present a total of $8,500 in grants to five recipients Friday (Sept. 13) at halftime of the varsity football game.
The recipients are: Texas Department of Public Safety Foundation – State Trooper Jerry Don Davis Memorial; City of Slaton Emergency Services – Santa Red & Blue; Llano Estacado Silver Star Board – Slaton Area Seniors; Slaton Railroad Heritage Association – Event Center Items; and Slaton Senior Citizens Center – Meal Trays for Home Delivery.
The Slaton Area Endowment is an affiliate of the Community Foundation of West Texas, and was created in 2013 to give people in Slaton the opportunity to build a pool of permanent resources exclusively to benefit their community.
Today the endowment has more than $412,000 and supports funds for four designated organizations. To date, it has given 75 grants totaling $97,144 to non-profits. Every year, as the endowment grows, the group is able to give back even more.
