Jacque Grannum of Edinbridge, Kent, England, was orphaned by age three.
“From the age of three until 2010, I didn’t belong with any family at all,” she said as she, along with friend Brenda Thowe of Fort Worth, sat in the upstairs parlor at the Slaton Harvey House on Oct. 23.
That year however was when a family friend, and another friend helped trace her genealogy
She found out her father, who died when she was two, was a direct descendant of Fred Harvey descendent. His mother was Fred’s niece
“So my great-grandmother, my grandmother’s mother, Annie Harvey, was Fred Harvey’s sister,” Grannum said. “So all the Fred descendants and me, we share great-grandparents.”
Grannum and Thowe were making a stop at the Harvey House as they made their way to Santa Fe, N.M. for a Fred Harvey Historical Weekend.
