Cross Country State qualifiers finish strong in races

Slaton Cross Country trio Ty Kinch, Alice Cogburn and Mary Jo Parker competed in the State University Scholastic League Cross Country meet Saturday (Nov. 9) at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

Though none of the trio came home with a State medal, they all finished in the top third of their races.

Each race had 150 runners vying for the gold medal.

Parker finished 38th place with a time of 12:44, Cogburn 40th with a time of 12:45 and Kinch, 56th with a 17:07.

It was Kinch’s first time at State, Cogburn’s second and Parker’s third.
