Large crowds attend weekend Small Town Christmas, events

Slaton was full of Christmas hustle and bustle this past weekend as it hosted several events.

Saturday morning (Dec. 7), guests could enjoy Breakfast with Santa at First Baptist Church.

Later in the evening, Small Town Christmas was conducted. The winners of the tree decorating contest were announced (See story, page 10), and the evening was filled with music, food trucks, business open houses, and other activities. The Slaton Harvey House was home for visits with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

A cantata comprising the First Baptist and First United Methodist Church choirs performed Sunday (Dec. 8)

The Christmas fun continues this upcoming week.

Peoples Bank will host an open house Friday (Dec. 13) from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

The Christmas Train will be leaving from the First United Methodist Church of Slaton parking lot, Dec. 13 and 14 and next Friday and Saturday, Dec. 20 and 21 from 6-9 p.m. each night. Guests are asked to bring blankets and coats as they enjoy Christmas carols and family time. Donations are being accepted to help cover the costs of the train.
