Police arrest 1 in assault with a deadly weapon case
A 56-year-old Slaton man was arrested on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Slaton Police Sgt. Steve Dekraker said Ricardo Rodriquez Parras, 56, was arrested Dec. 16 in the 800 block of S. 1st St.
Dekraker said they received a call stating two people working on a motorcycle when Parras hit one with a wooden board. Both Parras and the others got into their vehicles, driving off. Parras allegedly hit the others a multiple times, causing them to spin out into the grass.
Dekraker said in the chase Parras hit a dumpster, parked motorcycle and then crashed into a truck before fleeing on foot. Officers arrested him two blocks west after a caller reported someone hiding in their back yard. He added other charges were pending.
