Morton retires from City after 50 years of service
City Attorney Harvey Morton retired from the City of Slaton after 50 years of service.
A reception was held in his honor Monday evening (Jan. 13) after the regular meeting.
Mayor Lynn Nowlin thanked him for his service, saying she couldn’t find a card that fit her feelings. “We could never tell you how much we appreciate how much you’ve affected Slaton and the service you provided us has been phenomenal,” she said. “Thanks so much for everything.”
Morton said he was honored to serve the City for all these years. “I appreciate the opportunity to help feed the family with this service,” he said. “It’s been a great 50 years.
“I’ll think of you guys every time I hear the Texas pledge of allegiance.”
