Harrell named interim superintendent

The Slaton Independent School District Board of Trustees approved the selection of Gary Harrell to be interim superintendent Thursday evening (Jan. 23) during a special meeting of the school board.

They authorized Board President Carlos Bentancourt and Slaton ISD legal council to negotiate the interim agreement with Harrell and Bentancourt to execute the agreement.

Harrell will begin his duties Feb. 1.

Trustees also approved the selection of Region 17 Education Service Center as the search firm for the new superintendent.
