The Slaton Independent School District Board of Trustees met on Thursday, Feb. 13 to discuss the search for a new superintendent, award the educators of the month and to approve new local policy changes.

An update was given on officials from Region 17 Education Service Center in Lubbock working with the SISD Board of Trustees to help with the search for a new superintendent for the District.

Officials Dr. Kyle Wargo and Wayne Blount are working with the Board to help begin developing a timeline for the search.

Once the timeline has been determined, the vacancy will be announced through a superintendent website, Texasisd.com, under superintendent vacancies. The posted vacancy notice will include an “Invitation to Apply” flyer that will include information about the District and the timeline for each phase of the search. It is anticipated that the new superintendent will be on the job by July 1 or earlier.
