The Slaton Senior Center completed their Walk Across Texas, celebrating with an award presentation Friday afternoon (March 6).

The group traveled just over 2,917 virtual miles, doing things such as walking, jogging, doing household work, or even task such as actively grocery shopping, playing pool, cleaning house, gardening and dancing. The unofficial final mile total, when late mileage was reported, went to just shy of 3,000.

The trip took them virtually to Corpus Christi, then a long route to South Padre Island and then up to Dallas and North Dallas via the “scenic route,” before returning to Lubbock.

The group finished top in the Lubbock region, which also included teams from Cooper Rawlings, Mae Simmons, Maggie Trejo and 19th Street.
