Local restaurants offering ways to enjoy meals during pandemic
While COVID-19 may keep people from enjoying an evening on the town, folks are still looking at a way to still enjoy a treat from the regular home cooked meal.
That said, sometimes local restaurants are ignored during a pandemic or year round, but in Slaton, a few are offering ways for people to still enjoy their cuisine.
Slaton Bakery is keeping their normal hours, 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, and 6 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays, and is offering curbside service. They also have some baking items for sale, such as sugar, flour, beans, rice and fruits. Phone is 828-3253.
Humble Grounds Cafe, which opened this past week, is offering curbside as well as carry-out services. At this time they are serving coffee and hot tea, as well as prepackaged snacks. They are selling basic groceries and snacks, which can be delivered if ordered by 4 p.m. that day. Hours are 6 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays. JJ’s Cafe is offering call-in and drive-thru orders. They are open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Tuesdays-Thursdays and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. They are closed Sundays and Mondays. To place an order, call 828-5601.
Aranda’s Mexican Cafe is open for drive-thru orders only. They are open from 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday-Saturday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesdays and from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Phone is 806-728-0114.
Casa de Miguel’s began to offer take out and curbside to go orders only from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. during their normal business hours, and can be reached at 828-4900.
Pitforks and Smokerings is open during Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. until sold out for meals, but is now drive-thru, a first for the business. They can be reached at 806-773-2122.

Donut Stop is drive-thru only. They can be reached at 806-828-6555.
In addition, McDonald’s, Sonic and Pizza Hut have their drive-thrus open or offer carryout and delivery.
