Andrus Lone Finalist for SISD superintendent
The Slaton Independent School District Board of Trustees has named Jim Andrus as the Lone Finalist for the Superintendent’s position at SISD.
By state statute, the Board must now wait 21 days before action can be taken to employ Andrus.
He has been the Assistant Superintendent in charge of instruction at SISD since 2018. He also served as Principal of Slaton Junior High, and he served as Assistant Principal at Cavazos Middle School, Principal of Preston Smith Elementary, Assistant Principal at JT Hutchinson Junior High and Director of Secondary Program for Advancement, all in Lubbock.
Andrus was raised in Roswell, N.M. and received his Bachelor’s degree from Eastern New Mexico University in 1984 and his Master’s degree from Wayland Baptist University in 2001.
He received his Superintendent’s certification from Texas Tech in 2014. Andrus’ wife, Lori, is a retired school administrator and currently works for Southwest Airlines as a flight attendant.
The Slaton ISD Board of Trustees met Tuesday (April 21) to interview finalists for the position. They considered the candidates for several hours, ending about 1 a.m. when Andrus was named.
