1 person confirmed dead from COVID-19 in Slaton

The City of Slaton confirmed the first death from COVID-19 in the City Friday (May 8).

Mayor Lynn Nowlin confirmed the death during her daily updates to The Slatonite regarding COVID-19 cases. There were no other cases reported that day.

Overall, the total number of cases in Slaton have been 16, with one death, 14 recovered and one case currently active.

In Lubbock County as of press time, there were a total of 598 cases, 50 deaths, 314 recoveries and 234 active.

Last week also marked the first time where recoveries surpassed new cases.

The City of Slaton also conducted a drive through testing of COVID-19 Tuesday afternoon (May 12). Case updates will be online and on the paper’s Facebook page as needed.
