Trustees approve COVID waivers, purchases

The Slaton Independent School District Board of Trustees met Wednesday (May 20) during a special session Zoom meeting.

The board approved several waivers the district needed to send to the state after COVID-19 forced the shut down of schools for the remainder of the 2019-20 year.

Waivers the board approved were:

• A missed school day waiver and instruction continuity while closed attestation.

• Educator, principal, administrator appraisal waiver,

• Instructional Materials Inventory Requirement Waiver, and

• CPR instruction requirements waiver. This one waived the requirement seniors must take CPR in order to graduate.

In addition to the waivers, trustees approved several purchases.

They approved a purchase of security camera equipment from Balco in the amount of $18,970.

Trustees also approved purchases from Indeco Sales.

Also approved was an additional purchase from Balco for security Access Control equipment for $9,415.

The board also approve the a new high school English/Language Arts textbook from Houghton Mifflin as presented.
