COVID-19 has lead to a delay or cancellation of many events, including the famous Fourth on Broadway conducted in Lubbock.
That said, the Slaton Chamber of Commerce will continue events as normal this year… with “social distancing” protocols in place.
First up will be a dedication of a new hangar by the Texas Air Museum at 11 a.m. Saturday (June 13). There will be a barbecue and hangar sale. Donations of food will also be accepted.
The July 4th Festival will be on that holiday Saturday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. There will be food and activities and live music
The event is free.
The annual Caprock Classic Car Club Show and Cruise will be July 17 and 18.
Car enthusiasts will do their cruise on July 17 from 7-8 p.m. throughout downtown Slaton.
The next day, the show will be conducted in downtown from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. There will be vendors spread out around the square this year in order to adhere to “social distancing” protocols.
Upcoming events that will be scheduled include a Slaton Lions Club Fish Fry to raise money for scholarships and ribbon cuttings for new businesses.
