Annual Fish Fry doubles as airport renaming ceremony

The annual Larry T. Neal Memorial Fish Fry at the Slaton Municipal Airport, benefitting the Slaton Lions Club scholarship fund, had many surprises Friday evening (June 19), including a surprise downpour.

For the Neal family however, it was not the surprise storm while taking a group photo.

It was the airport is now called the City of Slaton Larry T. Neal Memorial Airport.

The change in name, complete with a new sign, was announced officially at the event.

The metal sign features a plane with Neal’s birth year and initials – 46LT as the N-number.
