The Slaton Police Department worked the scene of a one-vehicle car accident Saturday evening (July 11) under the overpass of Hwy. 84 along Division St.
Sgt. Steve Dekraker said a female driver was traveling the wrong way on the highway, going westbound in the eastbound lane.
As she was going up the overpass, she struck a guard rail, losing a tire. The tire hit a barricade and landed at United Express gas station.
Shortly afterward, she went into the median, and continued between the east and westbound roads before going off the overpass. The car landed nose first on the road underneath.
The driver was taken to the hospital with injuries and the vehicle had to be towed.
No other injuries were reported.
