SISD starts revised in-service

Slaton Independent School District faculty and staff returned for teacher in-service Friday morning (Aug. 7).

Each of the four campuses gathered individually during their lunches at Slaton High School.

The teachers were provided a meal from one of three food trucks.

During lunches, the schools’ principals and others provided updates about the new school year, preparations to adapt to COVID-19 rules implemented by the state as well as University Interscholastic League and other topics.

They also answered questions the teachers had, particularly about remote learning and how they will be graded.

Teachers will attend a virtual convocation later in the in-service due to COVID restrictions.

They also conducted open houses, either at the schools or virtually, Aug. 11 and 12, and a story will be in next week’s edition of the paper.
