SHS football ticket sales scheduled

From staff reports, the Slaton Independent School District has announced its policy for ticket purchases this year during the COVID-19 pandemic.

There will be no tickets sold at the stadium this season, to reduce the risk of touch points that could transmit COVID.

Season ticket sales ended Wednesday (Aug. 26), which were focused on football, cheerleader and band families.

Superintendent Jim Andrus reported that currently University Interscholastic League guidelines allow stadiums to only be filled to 50 percent capacity.

This means that the stadium can seat 440 people on the home side, and then 225 on the visitor side.

Slaton’s first game of the season is in Snyder Friday evening (Aug. 28) at 7 p.m. in Snyder.

Starting Monday (Aug. 31) for Slaton’s first home game against Abernathy, the ticket schedule will be:

• Mondays, high school seniors will have the first chance at getting a ticket. They are allowed to only purchase one ticket.

• Tuesdays, the rest of the grade levels will be allowed to buy tickets.

• Wednesdays, the remaining tickets will be brought back to the administration building for purchase.

All seats are general admission this year.

Face masks will be required to be admitted into the stadium.
